In 2013 the Middletown Free Library received an LSTA grant to start a Maker Space in its previous location. Much of the equipment has been updated, but the philosophy of a Maker Space in the library has remained & expanded to fit in our new location.
Our dedicated Maker Space has tables & chairs to hold up to 16 Makers at a time. Many adult arts & crafts programs happen in our space, and many tech-based programs for kids & adults happen in the space as well. Sorry, but outside groups/individuals are not able to reserve the space.
Visit our Library Programs Page to see what programs are happening in our Maker Space!
We offer Open Hours for people to come in and finish projects from library programs, or work on their own projects from home using some of our supplies & equipment. You must pass safety & instruction courses in order to use specific equipment on your own like 3D Printers, Carvey, Cricut, etc. Every Open Space visitor must sign a liability waiver. Some equipment requires you provide your own materials (Carvey, Cricut, Sewing Machine). For 3D Printing, if you design something in Open Hours and it is under 30mm x 30mm x 30mm, you can print it for free in white. If it is larger or you desire a different color, it costs $0.20/gram. For more information about 3D Printing or to submit objects to be printed, visit our 3D Printing at MFL page.
